Marking Horns

There are two different types of Horn watermarks in the Leicester and Arundel Codices. Representing Group A is Arundel 34-35, and representing Group B is Arundel 146-150. Each Horn is marked with eight points. The watermark should be oriented so that the mouthpiece is on the left and the bell (where the sound exits) is on the right.

Point Locations:
  1. intersection of top of the cord on which the horn is hanging and the vertical chain line bisecting the watermark
  2. top intersection of the two circular portions of the mouthpiece
  3. intersection of the bottom of top loop of the cord on which the horn is hanging and the vertical chain line bisecting the watermark
  4. intersection of left branch of the cord with the horn
  5. intersection of chain line bisecting watermark and the upper edge of horn
  6. intersection of right branch of the cord with the horn
  7. intersection of chain line bisecting watermark and bottom edge of horn
  8. intersection of the bottom edge of the horn with the bell of the horn
